Step 1:
Retailers, wholesalers and farmers contact Fourth Harvest regarding imperfect produce available for resale or donation.
Step 2:
We discuss and document product pricing, transportation, and interim storage.
Step 3:
We post all available product on the Local Food Connection anonymously under the Fourth Harvest name.
Step 4:
All orders, including payment and delivery, are processed via the Local Food Connection.
Profitable Waste Option:
Fourth Harvest can help facilitate the donation of food to a local agency. The tax benefits from the donation are passed back to your organization.

FAQ

Call them imperfect or ugly but essentially, these words are just different ways to describe perfectly safe, edible yet cosmetically imperfect produce. Food with packaging issues or that has been short-dated is also considered to be imperfect but is also perfectly safe to eat.
Our mission is to source imperfect produce and sell it at a greatly discounted price—keeping it out of the landfill. Our suppliers are local farms, retailers, wholesalers, and product manufacturers. If you would rather donate your excess inventory, we can help generate an enhanced tax deduction by facilitating food donations to local charitable organizations.
No. Fourth Harvest is an independently owned entity and operates just like every other vendor on the Local Food Connection.
The Path Act rewards corporate food donors with additional tax benefits for donating food to charitable organizations. The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act protects companies from liability when donating food to a non-profit organization. Click on either link to learn more.
No. Fourth Harvest operates in-partnership with the Local Food Connection, so all of your produce orders are processed and delivered through their website. Fourth Harvest does not currently sell direct.
